Serie A side Brescia are set to terminate Mario Balotelli’s contract after the player failed to return to training ahead of Serie A’s restart this month.
The 29-year-old signed a three-year contract last year after the club was promoted to Serie A for the first time since 2011.
Sky Sports reported Balotelli was involved in a row with Brescia president Massimo Cellino after the striker failed to return to training after Covid-19 restrictions were relaxed in Italy.
The report says that Balotelli was offered a consensual termination, which he refused. The club sent a letter to his lawyer saying his contract would be ended.
In 19 appearances this season in the Serie A, Balotelli has scored 5 goals. Brescia sit bottom of the table, 9 points from safety.
Most teams are remaining with 12 rounds of games to play.
The Serie A is set to resume on June 20 after a three-month interruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
