A professional rugby team in Samoa that set off for an away match on February 23rd have still not returned home, the BBC reports.
Manuma Samoa left their Pacific island for an away game in Perth, Australia, more than 100 days ago.
The team trained for two weeks in Auckland, New Zealand and played their game in Perth, Australia. They planned to fly home via Auckland, in time to prepare for the home match in Apia on March 21st.
While playing in Perth, the government of Samoa made an announcement. Is said, anyone travelling to Samoa must self-quarantine for two weeks before setting off.
The team was forced to quarantine in New Zealand on their way home. They were allowed in the Auckland compound where they held pre-match training. The team got stuck after their home country Samoa closed its borders entirely and introduced flight restrictions on 24th March.
While in Auckland, the team stayed in a church compound for a three-month period, with 20 players sharing a room.
The team is back in Samoa but players still haven’t seen their family members. They’re halfway through their two-week quarantine.
