The Spanish La Liga can resume in the week commencing June 8th, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced.
Sanchez made his declaration during his address on Saturday.
La Liga officials were hoping the League can resume on June 12th, and they can push towards that target.
‘’Spain has done what it should and now new horizons are opening for everyone. The time has come to resume many daily activities. From June 8, La Liga will return to football,’’ He said.
Clubs have been training although social distancing rules have to be adhered to.
Group training sessions have not been able to take place. The players are training in groups of 10 or less.
La Liga was suspended in March due to the global coronavirus pandemic. Matches will be played without spectators once the league resumes.
FC Barcelona sit on top of the La Liga table, two points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid.
