The Premier League has confirmed that 6 players and staff have tested positive for coronavirus.
748 tests were carried out in the last 48 hours and 6 returned positive results. The affected are from three Premier League clubs and will now self-isolate for 7 days.
A Premier League statement read: ‘’The Premier League can today confirm that, on Sunday May 17 and Monday May 18, 748 players and club staff were tested for Covid-19.
‘’Of these, six have tested positive from 3 clubs.
‘’Players and staff who tested positive will self-isolate for a period of 7 days.’’
The Premier League, like other leagues across the globe, has been on hiatus since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The German Bundesliga became the first major European league to resume last weekend, while Premier League clubs have started training in small groups without coming into contact.
