English Premier League clubs have voted to push the summer transfer period back to September 1 for the 2020-2021 season.
Club managers had earlier supported the closure of the summer transfer period a day before the season began, with most of the managers suggesting the uncertainty that accompanied a later deadline not being beneficial.
This measure was brought ahead of the 2018-2019 football season and remained ahead of the current campaign, but decriers felt it left the Premier League disadvantaged, with the other European League not bringing their deadline forward.
A Premier League shareholders meeting was held on Thursday and Premier League clubs voted to push the deadline back to September 1, reducing the risk of losing players to other League and being unable to sign a replacement.
The new deadline for the summer transfer period will be September 1, 2020. The Premier League will has also confirmed that the 2020-2021 season will kick off on Saturday August 8th.
