Record Marathon Runner Eliud Kipchoge was feted with the Order of the Elder of the Golden Heart of Kenya by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Eliud Kipchoge’s name will now change to Eliud Kipchoge EGH.
This was during the Mashujaa Day celebrations that were held at Mama Ngina Waterfront grounds in Mombasa yesterday.
This follows after Eliud Kipchoge ran a marathon under 2 hours in Vienna, Austria. The marathon was dubbed INEOS 1:59.
‘’And in honour of all the heroes, past, present and future, I wish to recognize Eliud Kipchoge with the Order of the Elder of the Golden Heart,’’ Said President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The award is given after the President gets an advice and go ahead from the National Honours and Awards Committee. The award is the second class in the Order of Golden Heart of Kenya.
President Uhuru Kenyatta also mentioned several heroes and heroines such as Environmentalist Wangari Maathai and Peter Tabichi who won the global teacher award earlier this year.
