Seventy healthcare workers have tested positive for Covid-19 in Ghana’s central region according to the health authorities, the BBC reports.
Ghana has confirmed over 8,000 coronavirus cases with the virus claiming 38 lives. More than 3,000 recoveries have been reported.
The infected healthcare workers are said not to be showing any symptoms of Covid-19.
The health authorities say that the workers did not adhere to safety protocols leading to them getting infected.
400 coronavirus cases have been reported in central Ghana and 70 of the cases are health workers.
President Akufo-Addo relaxed ban on religious gatherings and has already reopened schools for final year students despite a surge in infections.
Ghana’s borders however remain closed.
