The state Department of Basic Education and the state Department of Gender affairs are embroiled in a tussle over the control of Sh. 470 million for provision of sanitary towels to pupils in hardship areas.Initially the mandate for the disbursement of the sanitary pads was under the State department of Basic Education ,but the latter lost the role to the State Department of Gender affairs last year.Education principal Secretary has urged the National Assembly education Committee to revert back the funds to the Ministry of education as the ministry is well placed to deliver sanitary towels to pupils whom they interact with as opposed to the department of Gender affairs. – Daily Nation
