3 Counties Pay MCAs More than SRC Set Guidelines
Homa Bay, Trans Nzoia and Murang’a paid their MCAs more in monthly allowances that the Ksh. 124,800 set by Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
The reports from Officer of Controller of Budget (OCoB) indicates that in the 3 counties each Member of County Assembly (MCA) was paid allowances as follows:
- Homabay = Ksh. 127,747
- Trans Nzoia = Ksh. 158,893
- Murang’a = Ksh. 135,020
These allowances are paid to the Members of County Assembly for attending committee and chamber meetings. This is in addition to their monthly salary of Ksh. 165,000 and mileage allowances.
